James Ogilvie was born in Aberdeen, Scotland. He was an educator who opened an academy in Milton, Virginia, but later moved to Richmond, Virginia. He was a lecturer at South Carolina College in 1815. He went back to Scotland to claim the title of Earl of Findlater. He died in Aberdeen, Scotland on September 18, 1820 of suicide. From the description of Letter, 1771 April 26. (Unknown).
